Bay to Breaker Training – Introduction

I signed up for the Bay to Breakers about a week or so ago, but I haven’t actually started training yet.  My knee still hurt from my infamous ice skating incident, and I have all sorts of body issues, so I’m not sure exactly what will happen, but as Laozi (Chinese philosopher) said, “A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step,” and all I need is 7.46 miles (12 kilometers).

I signed up because it was the centenial event, because I heard it may not happen next year due to financial issues, and mostly because I need to get my bottom off the chair and start moving.  I am most definitely in the worst shape of my life.  Even while I was pregnant, I was in a much better place.  In fact, I’m in the same place on the scale, much to my chagrin!  I figure my first step would be to sign up.  Since I hate to waste money, I figure paying $56 that would motivate me to make this happen.

Signing up is the first and easiest step.  Now for the next step… the part where I start training!  Wait!  That’s a series of steps too, starting with the easiest again, printing out various training plans off the internet.  Then reading them, then deciding which one to follow, and then it’s time to actually walk.  I haven’t gotten to that part yet.  That’s for Monday.
