These were my goals from my last blog on things I wanted to accomplish the week of January 14th:

 – blog at least once a week – oops, I thought about blogging anyway laughing

– join Weight Watchers on Thursday at work – something happened around that time, so I couldn’t join.  Yesterday, I was traveling on business.  Maybe NEXT week then!

– Find the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video and do Day 1 – this I did!

– Walk 30 minutes for at least 1 day – nope, I didn’t

– Pack my scrapbooking staff at the other house by Sunday – I’m not even going to say that I’m bringing the boxes over – nope, I couldn’t get myself to do it after the party on Saturday night.

These are my goals for the week of January 28th

 – blog at least once

– join Weight Watchers on Thursday at work

– Do Day 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video

– Walk 30 minutes for at least 1 day

– Pack my scrapbooking staff at the other house by Sunday

30 Day Shred – Day 1

I was able to find the 30 Day Shred DVD after going through four boxes of my husband’s DVD collection Sunday night.  After The Biggest Loser and Hawaii Five-O tonight, I put on the Shred DVD and did Day One.  Surprisingly, I didn’t do too bad especially compared to the first time I did the video several years ago.  Of course I forgot to get my shoes, sports bra, and water, so halfway I had to stop, go upstairs to get at least my shoes and water, and the proceeded to finish the rest of the video.  The hardest part was the burn on my upper thighs when I have to bend halfway forward.  Does that get better over time?

2013 Musings

I bought a small laptop computer in November, and my excuse was that I wanted something portable to blog with, so I guess I better start soon!  laughing

The plan is that I will have a list of goals set for the following week – these will be EXTREMELY simple goals that I should be able to accomplish – start small!  This is the week for January 14th.

– blog at least once a week

– join Weight Watchers on Thursday at work

– Find the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video and do Day 1

– Walk 30 minutes for at least 1 day

– Pack my scrapbooking staff at the other house by Sunday – I’m not even going to say that I’m bringing the boxes over.laughing

Y’all can tell I’m a planner… just not enough follow through.  Let’s see where this takes us!

Day Two – Walking While Traveling on Business

I was in Avila Beach on Monday through Wednesday this week and decided that I would at least exercise one of those day.  The only day I could walk was Tuesday night.  I left work around 5:15 p.m. and went back to the hotel to change into my exercise gear.  It turned out I forgot to bring my fanny pack, so I had to carry my water bottle in one hand and the hotel key in the other.  I walked on the Bob Jones trail but didn’t have a watch, so I had to estimate my distance in terms of blocks, making 12 blocks into one mile… therefore one mile forward and one mile back to thr hotel in time to meet a co-worker for dinner.

It took me 45 minutes to do the entire walk, so I’m really hoping I walked more than 2 miles!!!  Right now, I can only say that I walked to the “big tree past the vista point” and back, but hopefully next month, I’ll return with my pedometer to figure out the actual distance.  My calves hurt a little bit, but I tried to ignore it.  By the time I was almost done, the pain went away.  As it was one of hotter night of the year, I drank all my water.

Yeah, yeah.  I know.  I need to walk more to train better!!!

Day One – Back to the Gym for the First Time in a Long Time

No one ever goes to the gym and regrets it.  Why do I not go more often?  <sigh>  I arrived very late tonight, but at least I showed up.

2 minutes walking at 3.0 mph, followed by 1 minute of jogging at 4.5 mph for 1.5 miles which took me 26:36.  You might not be impressed, but I am.  I’m carrying an extra 75 lbs. on me.  More impressed now?  laughing

Preparations… for the Preparations

laughing  Planning is the easiest part, right?  Seems like I did nothing for two months after I signed up for the Awesome 80’s Run, so I know I need to get a move on it, no pun intended.  I have six weeks to train for a 10k, and there are plenty of plans online that I can follow.  Here’s what I’m planning to do:

Week Sun Mon Tues Wed Thur Fri Sat
1 Rest 30 min walk Rest 30 min walk 30 min walk Rest 45 min walk
2 Rest 35 min walk Rest 35 min walk 35 min walk Rest 55 min walk
3 Rest 40 min walk Rest 40 min walk 40 min walk Rest 65 min walk
4 Rest 45 min walk Rest 45 min walk 45 min walk Rest 75 min walk
5 Rest 50 min walk Rest 50 min walk 50 min walk Rest 80 min walk
6 Rest 55 min walk Rest 30 min walk 30 min walk Rest Race day

I’m also going to start bringing lunch to work.  I’ve been eating out every day for the past four years, and the result is consistent weight gain.  Let’s see how this goes…  happy

Just Signed Up for Another Foot Race

I went ahead and did it.  I signed up for the Awesome 80’s 10k Run that’s being held in San Francisco on November 18th.  Anyone want to join me?!  I didn’t even bother asking how much time I have to finish because it said that walkers, runners, and strollers were welcomed.  I figure that I should be able to walk faster than at least 1 other person strollering out there.  laughing  Signing up for a race makes me obligated to train, and I really need to start (forget “continue”) my half marathon training.  The week following the Awesome 80’s 10k  is the Thanksgiving weekend, so it’ll be time for the Run Wild for a Child Turkey Trot… figure that’ll lead UP to some other big event… just haven’t figured out what it is yet because I’m having commitment issues.
